Types of Information We May Collect
In general, you can visit this website without identifying who you are or revealing any information about yourself. Information collected online can generally be categorized as anonymous or personally identifiable. Anonymous information is information that cannot be connected to the identity of a specific individual. Personally identifiable information is information that specifically identifies a particular user, such as name, address, or phone number. An example of anonymous information is the fact that, while this website may record the number of visits to a particular page that occur in a given period of time, it does not necessarily tell us the names or other identifying information of every visitor. Many users of this website will choose not to provide any personally identifiable information; therefore, those individuals are anonymous to us, and any data collected about their use of this website is anonymous information.
When you visit our site, we use Google Analytics to collect certain technical and routing information about your computer. For example, we may log environmental variables such as browser type, operating system and CPU speed, and the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your originating Internet Service Provider, to try to bring you the best possible service. We also may record search requests and results to try to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our search engine. We may use your IP address to track your use of the site, including pages visited and the time spent on each page. We collect this information and use it to measure the use of this website and to improve its content and performance. We will not connect any of this information to a particular user or use it to contact you.
How We May Use Information We Collect
We collect personally identifiable information only for providing the services you request. When you submit personally identifiable information to us, you understand that you are agreeing to allow us to access, store, and use that information for those purposes.
On the “Contact” page, you may submit your name and email address. We may use this information to contact you only with regards to your message to us. We will not use this information for marketing or other unrelated purposes unless you request to receive such communications. You may choose to “opt out” of communications by requesting that your name and contact information be removed from our distribution list.
Sharing Your Information
We do not trade, share, or sell information that you provide to us with any third party without your consent, unless required by subpoena, search warrant or other legal process, or where failure to disclose is reasonably certain to cause substantial harm to you or others. To help prevent unauthorized access to your information, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard the information we collect.
Your Access to Data
If you would like to access the data that we received from you or make any changes, you may contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (616) 742-0242. If you prefer not to have your anonymous information automatically collected by us, you may choose to opt-out of Google Analytics tracking with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
On the “Donate” page, you may choose to submit personally identifiable information, including your address, email address, credit/debit card information, and telephone number. We use this information only to appropriately process donations. Although no security measures are impenetrable, we use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software to encrypt your sensitive data when we collect or transfer it.
Health Care Information
We do not request any health-related information online. Please do not disclose any confidential health information that you are not comfortable being read by our staff. Any health care information you choose to disclose will be treated in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
