Amazing Grace/Amazing Race 08

Race Update:

Special thanks to Ron & Tracee Meyer, Mike & Noami NyBoer and Phil & Amy Swedberg for the incredible effort in planning and leading the Amazing Grace/Amazing Race on August 22-24 to raise $2,400 for Alpha Women’s Center of Grand Rapids.

The race hosted 14 teams - 4 people on a team, 56 participants in all. The event started up by Mackinaw City at Wilderness State Park, everyone came up Friday evening. Saturday morning the race began. These are the following stops they made throughout the race: Cross Village, Good Hart, Alanson, Oden, Petoskey, Mt. McSaubia in Charlevoix, Beaver Island Ferry in Charlevoix, Fisherman’s Island, East Jordan Iron Works, Hartwick Pines, Traverse City State Park, Ending Saturday at Interlochen State park. Sunday morning starting at the State park going to the following, Bay Meadows Golf, The Bowery, Meijer in Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Platte River, Big Yellow Dragon RV camp and play area on US 31, Mason County Courthouse, The Plaza Skatepark in Ludington, and ending at the Big Sable Lighthouse in Ludington.

The participants paid a fee to enter the race. This included their stay for Friday night, Saturday breakfast, along with lunch and dinner and their stay Saturday night, with Sunday breakfast, and lunch. Some of the stops were in State Parks or National Parks, which included passes as well. Everyone also received a t-shirt at the end of the race, along with a first, second and third place prizes.

To all of the companies that sponsored the Amazing Grace/Amazing Race - a big thank you for your help in making this event happen which ended up being a great success raising $2,400 for Alpha Women’s Center of Grand Rapids! Some of you helped in many different ways, financial, giving prizes for our participants, and your time or place of business for the race. However you contributed, the planning committee is thankful.
